Dětský folklorní soubor OVEČKY

Dětský folklorní soubor Ovečky was founded as a children part of the Wallachian band of songs and dances Baca in 1999 by a longtime member and choreograph of the Baca band – Renata Kotasova.

Although the band has become an independent body, its repertory and activities follow longstanding activity of the „adult“ Baca band.

Children and grand children of the former but also active Baca members who found the beauty of folklore, Wallachian songs and dance without deeper family ties meet in the Ovecka band.
They spread lines of those who follow the heritage of their predecessors living in a distinctive part of east Moravia –Wallachia.

The children work in two age groups and cover systematically the Valasske Mezirici and Roznov pod Radhostem regions in its programs in the same way like the adults. The stress is laid particularly on the purity and traditional adherence to ethnical heritage, as in the program of the adult Baca band.

The programs mostly cover children games, which children used to play at grass, dances from the simplest to the figure, rhymes and indispensable raillery.

The band performs not only at contest parades , but also at various international festivals in the Czech republic (Liptal, Uherske Hradiste, Hlinsko, Cesky Krumlov, Skoronice) and abroad. (Poland, Greece, Slovakia).

The band is accompanied by CM Baca supervised by Ctirady Bryol.
DFS Ovecky is registered as a citizen´s association, the chairman is Irena Smolkova.
